As previously reported, new sources are confirming that the iPad 3 will finally see the light of day in early March. More specifically, tech blog iMore states that March 7th will be the exact date on which Apple will hold a press event.
App has historically used Wednesdays to launch new products.
So far, the general consensus throughout the rumor mill is as follows
- 1.2-1.4GHZ Quad-Core Apple A6 Processor
- 4G LTE Capable
- 1536×2048 Retina Display
- Much improved, 5MP back-facing camera
- iOS 5.1
- iPad 2[S]*
* It is speculated that the iPad 3 will be available with a slightly modified iPad 2[S] with a reduced price tag. This would be in an effort to compete in the lower-end tablet market where tablets such as the Kindle Fire has staked its flag. Uncorroborated reports suggest a $299 price tag for the 16GB iPad 2[S] while pricing on the iPad 3 will adopt the traditional or slightly higher pricing the iPad 2 currently has.
