Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway offered some rare muted praise for Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) on Monday for the Democratic lawmaker's suggestion that the Senate investigate former Attorney General Loretta Lynch. Conway told Fox News that it was "refreshing" to hear Feinstein's statement.

"What Sen. Dianne Feinstein did as a Democrat is refreshing because the Democrats, now they basically say the word 'Russia' more than they say the word 'America,'" Conway said.

Conway was referring to Feinstein's appearance Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union." She was asked about former FBI Director James Comey's Senate testimony last week, during which he had suggested that Lynch had tried to undermine his investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of an email server. Feinstein told her host that she thought the Senate should formally investigate Lynch, as well.

"I think we need to know more about that, and there's only one way to know about it, and that's to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that," she said, adding that it should be a separate investigation from the current one into the Trump campaign's alleged links to Russia.

In his testimony last week, Comey said that Lynch had asked him to downplay that nature of his investigation of Hillary Clinton's email server and insisted that he publicly call it a "matter" instead of an "investigation." He also cited an incident in which Bill Clinton privately met with Lynch at an airport during the investigation and said that this meeting led him to conclude that Lynch's Justice Department was not capable of an impartial investigation of the Democratic front-runner.
